What Do You See When You View The Objects?
Every object has a story. The best stories are those that help us understand ourselves, our community, and others. This is what draws us to objects, that make them represent more than their physical purpose, what makes them have meaning for us, what makes them seem infused with memories. This exhibit looks to objects - some at the History Center, while others are found throughout the county - to tell us stories, which are broken down into four themes: "Daily Life, Change, Special Events and Government."
Four Stories were the subject of videos created by the Jr. Volunteers for the Smithsonian's Museum on Main St. Coming Home project.

The following is a list of 50 objects from throughout DeKalb County that were selected as important pieces to continue the goal of highlighting interesting and unique stories. Like the objects on display at the DeKalb County History Center, the selection process was very difficult. In addition to providing unique perspectives to DeKalb County history, the History Center wanted to ensure representation from throughout the County. Enjoy exploring these amazing treasures around our county.
