We the People of DeKalb County

American history is a story of both success and failure with moments of unity and division, progress and setbacks. Through these complexities, our nation strives to live up to its founding ideals.

Commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the United States, this exhibit, "We the People of DeKalb County," explores how our local community engaged with the principles set forth in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. The Declaration boldly proclaimed the ideals of equality and unalienable rights, including "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
